Dear Citizens of Lee County:
I would like to take this opportunity to announce that I am running for County Judge of Lee County. My roots run deep in Lee County. I was born in Giddings, grew up in Dime Box, graduated from Lexington High School, and lived in Giddings after college.
I have three sons, Wesley, Cody and Marty. Wesley, my youngest, lives with me on family property near Lincoln as he prepares to join the military. Marty and Cody live in Bryan/College Station. Many of you may know my parents Frank Jr. and Caroline, my brother Mike and his wife Debbie and my brother Joe. They and their families are long-time residents of Lee County. We are a close-knit Christian family with conservative values.
After graduating from Texas A&M University with a degree in Animal Science, I began a career in law enforcement with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office under Sheriff Joe Goodson and Chief Deputy Rodney Meyer.
Later, after serving as a DPS Trooper in Smithville and a DPS Auto Theft Agent in Laredo and Bryan, I promoted to Texas Ranger in Midland. I rose through the ranks to Lieutenant in Waco, Captain in Austin, Major in Waco and finally Assistant Chief, second in command of the Texas Rangers at State Headquarters. My service to Texas has been across this great state but Lee County has always been my home.
I retired in 2017 and returned to live in Lee County where I was again drawn to public service as a volunteer during the coronavirus National Guard vaccination efforts. I have experience in dealing with people in all walks of life, and leading teams of personnel in solving a variety of problems including budget and policy development, personnel matters, legislation reviews and using common sense in addressing issues inherent in government operations. Much of my experience overlaps the responsibilities of a county judge.
The County Judge must support county and city officials and when appropriate, call upon the resources of the State and Federal Government to augment the needs of the county. And of course, the Judge is the county’s chief executive officer and must preside over Commissioner’s Court and assist in developing responsible annual budgets.
I have consulted my family and friends, so this decision was not made lightly nor was it made in haste. In the coming months, I hope to meet as many of you as I can, to listen to your concerns and identify important issues that Lee County may face in the future. It would be one of my highest honors to serve as your chief executive officer, therefore by this letter I am asking for your vote for County Judge in the Republican primary election scheduled for March of 2022.
Sincerely,
Frank Malinak III
Republican Candidate for Lee County Judge
